Choosing A Hatchery

Hatchery choice decides your first 4 weeks. Use this checklist before paying a deposit.

Ask other farmers first

  • Search SabiSense for the hatchery name and read recent reviews.
  • Two bad batches in 90 days is a strong warning.

Verify the basics

  • Hatchery has its own breeder flock, not a reseller.
  • Vaccination schedule is written down and matches what you receive.

On collection day

  • Chicks should be uniform in size, alert, and dry.
  • Reject weak, panting, or wet chicks — don't accept a 'replacement next batch' promise on weak deliveries.

Keep records

  • Note batch number, supplier, and mortality at day 7, 14, 28.
  • Share the outcome on SabiSense so the next farmer benefits.
